After Log In, Create a New Site button.

Select Create your Website with the Wix Editor.

Under the question: What kind of website do you want to create? Select the type of website you want to create or select Other. 

You have the option of choosing the Template button and selecting the desired template or you can select a Blank Template to create it from scratch. I recommend a Blank Template for your first one so you can learn how it is made.

Notice the tabs for All templates, Blank Templates, and More.

I selected the Blank Template, Start from Scratch, Edit button, Start Now.

 

From the Edit window along the top you will notice a choice of two icons for Mobile devices or for the Desktop. I have selected the desktop version since it will be easier to edit since it is larger in size.

 

Along the top under the Tools be sure the Toolbar, Gridlines, and Snap to Objects is checked/selected for easy access for editing.

Along the top notice the Magnify icon for Zoom Out & Reorder items on the page. To the top right you have the Undo arrow and Redo arrow to change the last action.

Along the top left under Site>Save or Save (to the top right) you will see a website address in the window which opens with the ending of the address highlighted. Type in your own desired name in the highlighted area. Recommend taking a photo or writing down the website address, called the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to be able to view the site later in a new browser window.

Save & Continue button.

Publish your site so people can see it, Publish Now button, Done button.

Double check your URL address to be sure it is correct, then Save & Continue.

In your webpage editor window, along the top you will notice Page: HOME. Select the down arrow to pick the desired page you want to edit. So far there is only the Home Page. Next, select the top left tool to reach the Menu & Pages window. Later, this is where you will add pages from the bottom of the window + Add Page button or duplicate pages by selecting the three dots ..., to the right of the page name, and rename each page by double clicking on the text and type in the new text. The goal is to have the header and navigation identical on all pages.

 

On the Home page editing window along the top click in the Header area to add your header image and navigation. More information will be in the following two lessons on navigation and images.
