Uploading Your Own Media to Wix:

Go to the left Media icon

Select the blue circular icon to upload your media.

From the window which opens, along the left side you can bring media in from social media sites.

Or, select Upload From Computer to navigate to the file you want to bring in.

Or, drag files from your computer folder to the Wix window if they are in accepted file formats.

Some files you can select Add to Page button to add to your page and for some you will use the +Add button to bring it in.

Adding Images

To add images, go to the left + Add, Image. Notice the choices of My Uploads, Image Collections, and My Social Images. 

My Image Uploads allows for uploading your own images which you uploaded to Wix through the Media icon earlier.

Or, Wix (free) images & illustrations, or Stock Photos (fee).

My Social Images bring in images from Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr.

Select the desired media to add to the page.

 

Image Collections

+ Add Image Collections you will find Wix Images (free) and stock photos (fee).

 

My Social Images

+ Add My Social Images you will find Facebook, My Instagram, and My Flickr to add to your site.

Edit Images in Wix

Go to the left Media icon and scroll down a little in the window to gain access to editing tool called, Photo Studio and select it to access the editing tools.

Just drag the image into the window from your desktop and the editing tools are along the left side (crop, enhance, filters, adjust, cut out, text, overlays, and background) and Save button.

Adding Buttons

+Add Button and scroll down in the window to select the desired one to add to your page in edit mode. Select the button and above or below it select Change Text, Layout, Design to Customize Design, Animation, Link to set it as desired.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Galleries

+Add Galleries and select the desired one to add.

You have a choice of Galleries, Pro, Grid, Slider, and More.

Galleries (professional)

Grid Galleries (square shapes)

More Galleries (unique)

When the Gallery appears in the editing window, select it, and you will see the tools above or below it. 

Selecting Manage Media will allow for customization.

Selecting Settings opens the Wix Pro Gallery to modify the layout, settings, design, advanced, and support.

Add Decorative

+Add Decorative offers choices of Lines, Shapes, Arrows, Vector Art Icons, Animals, Nature, Characters, Video Box, Mask, and Transparent Video built into Wix (free).

Add Shapes

+ Add Decorative, Basic Shapes. They can be of assistance in providing a professional layout. 

After adding a shape to your page, select it, and notice the tools above or below it. You can select Change Basic Shape.

Or, you can select the Brush icon to change the color of the shape and transparency (how see through it is).

Reorder Objects to Front or Back

In Edit Mode, select the object on you page, and control click (Mac) or right click on (PC) and select Arrange to Bring to Front or Move to Back to reorder items to control what is in back or on top of it.

Add Interactive Elements

+ Add Interactive provides choices of Full Width Slideshows, Box Slideshows, and Hover Boxes.

I selected the About Me Hover box to add to my Instructor page.

On the editing page, above or below the selected image you can access additional editing tools.

There is a tab for Regular and Hover (rollover image). Select the desired tab to edit. 

For example, select the Regular tab, and select the Change Background button above it to change the color, image, video, or textured background.

Click or double click the text to edit it, for example About Me text was changed to Contact Me text.

Select the Hover tab and click or double click on the text to add your own contact text.

Add a YouTube Video 

Go to https://www.youtube.com to search for the desired video. 

Below the YouTube video select the Share button, and click on the Copy button for the website address.

Go back to the Wix editing window.

+Add Video & Music under Single Video Players select YouTube.

Above or below the video plugin added to the page, select the Change Video button.

In the window which opens click in “What’s the video web address?” and Edit>Paste or Command V (Mac) or right click (PC) to paste in the YouTube website address, Apply, and X Close the window.

The video appears on the page and you can hold down the cursor to drag it into position and resize as desired. Go to Save, Publish, View Site to make sure it is working correctly.

+Add Embed HTML iframe

Above or below the video plugin added to the page, select the Enter Code button.

In the plugin window which opens click on the Radial Code button and in the HTTPS box Edit>Paste or Command V (Mac) or right click (PC) to paste in the YouTube website code, Apply, and X Close the window.

The video appears on the page and you can hold down the cursor to drag it into position and resize as desired. Go to Save, Publish, View Site to make sure it is working correctly.

Add Your Own Video

Go to the left Media icon

+Add Video & Music you have choices of Single Video Players, or pre-made Wix Video, VideoBox, Video Mask, and Transparent Video.

Under Single Video Players you can upload your own .mp4 video, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Facebook.

 

To upload your own video, select +Add Video & Music, Video Upload.

With the video plugin selected, above or below it select Change Video button.

Select your own .mp4 video you uploaded through the Media button earlier, and Add to Page button to select it.

The video appears on the page and you can drag into position and resize as desired. Go to Save, Publish, View Site to make sure it is working correctly.

Video Maker (Make still images into a video)

Go to the left Media icon

Select the blue circular icon to upload your media.

From the window which opens, along the left side you can bring media in from social media sites.

Or, select Upload From Computer to navigate to the file you want to bring in.

Or, drag files from your computer folder to the Wix window if they are in accepted file formats.

Return to the left Media icon and scroll down to select the Video Maker.

From the Customize Your Video window select the blue plus sign to select each image you want to add to your video.

Next, add text captions in the boxes below, and the Next button to continue making the desired selections.

Apply & Preview button. Be patient while it renders a preview. Play button to view it.

You have the choice of going back to Editing or Save and Continue.

After saving the video select the left Media icon and the blue Upload Media icon.

From your media site files, double click on the new Video Maker folder to be able to select the .mp4 video, and select the bottom right Add to Page button.

Add Music & Audio Recordings

Go to the left Media icon

Select the blue circular icon to upload your media.

From the window which opens, along the left side you can bring media in from social media sites.

Or, select Upload From Computer to navigate to the file you want to bring in.

Or, drag files from your computer folder to the Wix window if they are in accepted file formats.

+Add Video & Music and you have a choice of Audio Players, Wix Music, SoundCloud Player, Spotify Player, and iTunes Button.

 

+Add Video & Music, Audio Players select the desired look for the audio play button to add.

In the editing window drag inside of the play bar to position and resize by dragging the corner anchors.

Above or below the audio file select the Change Track button.

Select the Upload Track button to bring in the .mp3 audio file and set it to play once.

Add Track button.

The audio file appears on the page and you can drag to position as desired.

Add Social Media 

+Add Social

You have a choice of adding a Social Bar, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, VK, and Line.

Just select the desired item to add it to your site.

 

+Add Social, Social Bar

The social media appears on your page and you can drag to position and resize it.

In the editing window, select the social media, and above or below it select the Set Social Links button to link them directly to your site. You can delete any you do not want.

Contact & Forms

+ Add Contact & Forms

The choices include Contact, Payment, Multistep, Donation, Job Application, Feedback, Contest, Price Quote, and Subscribe. In addition, you will find Google Maps and Full width Maps. Under Chat, Wix Chat, and LINE.

Select the desired item to add to your page.

Select the form on the page.

Above or below the form you have editing buttons such as Form Settings and Add New Field to set it up as desired.

The icons above the form include Add Elements, Layout, & Design.

Embed HTML Code </>

+ Add Embed

The choices are adding a Custom Embeds, Single Video Players, Audio SoundCloud Player, Spotify Player, & iTunes Button.

 

I started out at a website like Google Forms and copied the < /> Embed Code. Edit>Copy from the top drop down menu or Mac Command C, on a PC right click and select Copy.

 

From + Add Embed select </> HTML iframe to embed code from other free code sites.

A placeholder plugin box has been added to your page.

Select the box, and above or below it, select the Enter Code button.

Click in the plugin box, and go to Edit>Paste to add the code, and Apply button.

Resize it as needed by dragging the anchor points or drag inside of it to position as desired. There is an example near the bottom right column on this page.

Wix App Market

From the left Add Apps icon you can browse the available apps or use the search bar to check out your options. Check to be sure it is free and not a short-term trial which will end soon. They will have directions on how to use it.
